The time has come to announce our new, upcoming Halftime music!

Opener – GONNA FLY NOW (Theme from “Rocky”)

Flag Feature – WALK THIS WAY (Aerosmith)

Closer – RUN AWAY (Sarah Burgess)

We have a special opportunity to perform “Run Away” with American singer/songwriter, and Ohio native, Sarah Burgess.  Sarah was featured on the 6th season of American Idol, and currently performs both nationally and internationally.  The song was written to help raise support and funds for CureDuchenne, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a disease which affects nearly 20,000 boys in the United States, and 300,000 worldwide.

Sarah will be performing with us on the field for this show!  You will get to meet her soon.

Run Away Project:

We will post music online soon, and begin working on it next week!

Our first Home Game on Friday was a success! Even though the Bees did not come away with a victory, we were pleased that the Band put on very exciting and solid performances at both Pregame and Halftime. Keep up the good work, Students!

Jeff Mihalich has put together an outstanding promotional/recruiting video for folks to learn more about what the BBHHS Band Program has to offer. Please view the video at the link above (right under the slideshow). Thank you, Mr. Mihalich!

Excused Absences – Please note, to recover points for an excused absence from the festival, an additional activity will be required. While the actual performance experience cannot be made up, a large portion of the educational value of Band Festivals also comes from watching other bands. As such, we will ask you to complete an online assignment that involves viewing and analyzing videos of various Halftime shows. Please see Mrs. Astey for details.

Band… steady improvement is being made each week, and we haven’t yet reached our full potential… let’s keep working!

Mr. Wyse

Dear Band Parents and Students –

Thank you to all for an exciting weekend!  The band put on another great Halftime performance on Friday night at NRHS, and proudly represented BBHHS in Progressive Field at the Indians game on Saturday.  Great work, Students!

Also – A big THANK YOU to Karen Horvath, who sorted and organized all of the Indians ticket orders.

It was great to see the energy and camaraderie of the band, and the numerous improvements that were made from last week. CONGRATS! If we can continually improve each week throughout the season, there is no limit to what this band can accomplish.

Be sure to have all Pregame music and Stand tunes in your flip folder… we need to get some things “polished” up… If you have lost any music, be sure to download and print from the Sheet Music Page.

**Pregame Memorization Checks – DUE BY FRIDAY!
Please sign up, outside the band office, for a time to perform your Pregame memorization check (please do not wait until the last minute). Checks will be done in groups of 2-3.  Be working on this music, and demand excellence from yourself… our audiences deserve nothing less than 100%!

TUESDAY, 9/9 – Evening Rehearsal (6-9)
Rehearsal Goals:

  • Get Pregame ready for our Home opener!
  • Continue to refine and develop our Halftime Show
  • Begin work on “Le Regiment” music for Homecoming (9/26)

WEDNESDAY, 9/10 – Flagline Practice (6-9)

Parents, we look forward to seeing you as you travel through your students’ schedules.

Note – All Band classes will meet in the AUDITORIUM, during the scheduled concert band periods:

  • Period 4 – SYMPHONIC BAND
  • JAZZ ENSEMBLE will perform in the Cafeteria at the beginning of the evening.

THURSDAY, 9/11 – Drumline Rehearsal (6-9)

FRIDAY, 9/19 – 8th Grade Night!
Let’s be thinking about how we can make the 8th graders feel welcome as they join us for the game!

SATURDAY, 9/20 – North Royalton Band Festival (CT 5:00)

  • More info to come!
  • Please remember, as with all performances, attendance is mandatory. This is one of only two band festival opportunities this year (the other being Hudson on 10/4), and we only look and sound our best with all members participating!

SUNDAY, 9/28 – Drive 1 4UR School Fundraiser
Parent and Student volunteers are needed!  Click the link above for information on this event.

Many thanks,
Jason Wyse

CT – 4:00 @ BBHHS (buses will leave by 4:30 at the latest)

If you have a ticket that you can no longer use, please email Mr. Wyse ASAP!

  • We perform at approximately 6:10.  Music = Jackson 5
  • We will march around the warning track and down the 3rd baseline.
  • Other bands performing tonight are Margaretta and Mayfield.

  • We will perform in Full Uniform
  • Wear black band T-shirt and comfortable shorts/pants underneath.  We will NOT have an area for changing… what you wear under your uniform is what you will wear for the game!
  • If you’d like to throw in a light jacket, Indians hat, etc. to put on, that is fine (it will be cooler tonight).
  • New protocol just for tonight — Bring your garment bag and hangar with you on the bus, so that the uniform can be hung properly and draped carefully over your bus seat, following our performance.

  • Bring some money for concessions!  Your ticket will also have $3.00 of concession money preloaded.
  • If you are meeting us there with a parent, or leaving with a parent, please let us know.

Looking forward to an enjoyable evening… GO BEES & GO TRIBE!
