Band Families – Please note the following, which will give you a little more information about the OMEA Adjudication coming up next month!
WHAT: OMEA Large-Group Adjudicated Event (LGAE)
WHEN: March 13th or 14thÂ (TBA)
- Each band will perform on either March 13thÂ or March 14th.Â Unfortunately, the schedule is not released until two weeks prior to the event. Â This is why bothÂ dates are published early, in the summer calendar, and we respectfully ask all band families to keep both dates open.
- A detailed itinerary for each band will be released as the schedule is received!
WHERE: Elyria High School (busing from BBHHS)
WHY: The LGAE is provided by the Ohio Music Educators Association, as a tool to encourage musical growth through ensemble performance. Â Each band performs for a panel of three adjudicators, as well as a sight-reading judge, receiving valuable feedback and a cumulative rating. Â The adjudicators are experiencedÂ musicians and educators, and their feedback (while subjective) provides a valuable â€œsnapshotâ€ of the strengths and weakness of our bands, allowing us to focus on areas that will enrich future musical endeavors. Â Through the work of preparing for this event, students advance in their instrumental skills, becoming better individual players and ensemble members!Â Â Students also experience the sense of accomplishment that comes from investing in a performing art, working together as a team, and pursuing excellence.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: This event is mandatory, because an ensemble only functions effectively when all members are present. All team members are dependent on one another, and each student contributes an essential â€œpieceâ€ to the ensemble sound!
