It is clear from the dropping temperatures that we are entering the latter part of the season! Saturday was a chilly night at the Hudson Band Festival, but the Marching Bees still managed to put on another entertaining show… Congrats!

At this point in the season, there are many things that we do very well, and also many areas in which we must continue to improve. We will reflect on these in the coming days. Let’s keep our standards high as we continue through October.

Excused Absences – Please note, for excused absences, an additional activity will be required. The Marching Bees are performing at the Hudson “Parade of Bands” on Saturday, October 4th!  Below please find information on purchasing advance tickets… these are sold at a cheaper price than those available at the gate on the night of the show.

More festival information to come soon!

WOW – The Marching Bees put on a tremendous show Saturday at the NRHS Festival! By all accounts, it was our strongest overall performance of the RRHOF show yet this season.  You impressed many people, and knocked off many socks… CONGRATULATIONS!

Remember – we still have much more to come… let’s work together to keep our standards high as the season continues!

Also, a special thank you to our CHAPERONES, who do so much for us… we could not function without you!

Finally, many thanks to everyone for the thoughtful Birthday wishes, cookies, cards, and other items (carrots?!) on Saturday… I continue to feel very fortunate to work with such fine students, parents, and staff.

Le Regiment music checks need to be completed by Friday!  Note – this is not necessarily a “memorization check.” It is more important to us that you can play the music accurately, with your flip folder, than to perform from memory. However, if you prove your memorization, you may march without the flip folder on Friday.

TUESDAY, 9/23 – Evening Rehearsal (6pm-9pm)**

**IMPORTANT: Every student must PRINT THE MUSIC for our NEW halftime show, and have it stuffed into your flip folders for rehearsal on Tuesday!

Also, every student should already have LE REGIMENT in the flip folder (if not, please print).

Rehearsal Agenda:

1. NEW HALFTIME SHOW MUSIC: “Walk – Run – Fly!”

  • Gonna Fly Now
  • Walk This Way
  • Run Away

WEDNESDAY, 9/24 – Flagline Practice (6pm-9pm)

THURSDAY, 9/25 – Homecoming Parade and Bonfire

Call Time – 6:30 pm @ The Brecksville FIRE STATION**

  • **NOTE – Students are responsible for getting TO and FROM this event on their own. The school will be open before the parade from 5:00-5:50 for students to get their equipment, and after the bonfire until 9:30 to return it. The parade will step off by 7:00 pm. We will march down Rt. 21, to the Old Stadium, and play some pep music during the bonfire.

Students will be released directly from the Old Stadium around 9:00 pm.

ATTIRE: JEANS and RED & GOLD (Spirit Wear)

PARADE MUSIC: Fight Song (twice through)

FRIDAY, 9/28 – HOMECOMING! (CT 5:30)

  • Pep Rally during school: The DRUMLINE will be performing (Timing TBA)
  • Football vs. North Olmsted (CT 5:30 pm)
  • Instrument Decoration:
    • As a long-standing tradition, students are allowed to decorate their instruments tastefully for this game.
    • Remember, these are decorations, NOT simply random items or pieces of trash.
    • Your instrument MUST PLAY PROPERLY
    • The decorations must be securely fastened to the instrument so that pieces do not fall on the field.
    • Section/squad leaders: help us by modeling what is appropriate, and by checking your squads and sections to make sure these guidelines are adhered to.

All Leadership – please plan to stay after the game to help clean up the music area.

SUNDAY, 9/28 – “Drive 1 4UR School” Fundraiser

There are still a few time slots available to drive!

E-mail and include the following information:

  1. Driver’s name, phone number, and e-mail
  2. Student’s name (who they are driving for)
  3. Preferred time for appointment (10am-3:30)

Also, we can still use a few more parent and student volunteers (especially squad leaders)… please let us know if you can pitch in.

Thank you all for your continued contributions and support!
