Band Bulletin #24: 2/16-2/22

CONGRATULATIONS to all our students that performed at the OMEA Solo & Ensemble Adjudicated Event! BBHHS Band students earned 27 “Superior” ratings, 3 “Excellent” ratings, and 2 “Good” ratings. It takes a great deal of dedication and courage to perform as a soloist or in a small ensemble. Regardless of the final rating, students become better musicians by preparing music to perform at this annual event. BEE proud!

At our upcoming concert on Wednesday, March 4th, students in Symphonic Band will be performing a piece entitled “Forgotten Heroes”. During the piece, we would like to honor the military heroes of our extended band family who may not have seen fame or glory, but ultimately worked to make the world a better place. If someone in your family is currently enlisted or a retired member of the US military, please complete the form by clicking HERE!

ROOMING ASSIGNMENTS: Students should have all signed up for their preferred rooming assignments this past Friday. If you were absent or are still in need of a room assignment, please contact Mr. Rex.

UPDATED CONTACT INFO: If you have received a new phone number or e-mail address since the original student info form last Spring, please contact Ms. Astey with updated information. We want to make sure we have the most current contact info for all parents/guardians and students before we depart for Disney.

DISNEY MAILING: We received the final itinerary for the trip last week and mailed out a paper mailing with additional info and medical forms that are due at the REQUIRED trip meeting on Monday, March 9th. If you have not received a mailing by Friday, February 21st please contact Mr. Rex.

REQUIRED DATES: Please make sure you already have these dates on your calendar:

  • Student/Parent Disney Trip Meeting: Monday, 3/9 @ 7:00pm
  • Disney Rehearsals: Wednesday, 3/25 & Monday, 4/6 – 6pm-9pm

As students have reviewed their Band Audition feedback, some of our students may be considering enrolling in Private Lessons. Students who take Private Lessons advance in the band program at an accelerated pace, have the opportunity to earn honors credit, and make up a majority of our student leaders. We have several teachers that come to BBHHS during the school year and live in our community. Openings will come available as Seniors graduate, but openings may be available sooner. A full list of private teachers we recommend is available HERE. Please contact Mr. Rex with any questions or assistance in finding a teacher.
