Band Bulletin #16: 12/8-12/15

THANK YOU to everyone who helped with the Citrus Sale delivery and pickup! We had plenty of volunteers and ended up getting everything done early. This week we focus on the final touches on our Holiday Concerts. Below students will also find details about midterm exams for each concert band.

On Saturday, December 7th the Jazz Ensemble had the honor and privilege to open for the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra. Jazz Ensemble members were also treated to a pre-concert Q&A session with CJO musicians and stayed to attend their Motown Christmas Concert. What an awesome evening!

HOLIDAY BAND CONCERTS

This week there will be two opportunities to hear our high school bands sharing some holiday cheer! The BBHHS Bands Holiday Concert is on Wednesday, December 11th at 7:00pm in the BBHHS Auditorium. The Concert will feature Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Intermediate Band, Wind Ensemble, and the Brass & Woodwind Choirs. On Thursday, December 12th, Concert Winds will be featured at BBHMS for their partnership with the 7th Grade Band. The concert begins at 7:00pm in the BBHMS Auditorium and also feature the 6th Grade and 7th Grade Bands. Call time for students for both performances is 6:30pm. This is a REQUIRED PERFORMANCE for all students. Students must stay for the entire concert to receive full credit. 

Try on your concert uniforms and let Mrs. Reagan know if you need anything. Make sure you have black socks and black shoes ready. Ladies: Tasteful jewelry and hair accessories are acceptable. Gentlemen: Dinkles are alright to wear if you do not have other black dress shoes as long as they are clean. Tri-M members: don’t forget to wear your pin!

In the lobby at both concerts Band Boosters will have ornaments for sale as well as tickets for the Wind Ensemble/Concert Winds performance at Severance Hall on January 26th. Tickets and ornaments are $10.00 each, cash and check only.

DISNEY TRIP RAFFLE – LAST CHANCE!

WIN HALF A DISNEY TRIP! Our second and final raffle for half the cost of a student Disney trip is underway. The winner will be drawn at the BBHHS Holiday Band Concert on Wednesday, December 11th. Info on purchasing raffle tickets is available HERE. You do not need to be present to win, so Concert Winds students/parents are reminded that all raffle entries must be received by the start of the BBHHS Holiday Band Concert on Wednesday, December 11th.

DISNEY MEETINGS & UNIFORMS

Please mark your calendars for the REQUIRED meetings for those going on the Disney Trip:

ALL Chaperones: Tuesday, March 3rd at 6:00pm – BBHHS Band Room (Band Booster meeting to follow)

ALL Students AND Parent/Guardian: Monday, March 9th at 7:00pm – BBHHS Auditorium

MARCHING UNIFORMS: Band members going on the Disney Trip MUST take marching uniform, shoes, and garment bag home after the concert on Wednesday. Hats will stay at school. Dry cleaning info will be given AFTER the new year. Students NOT going on the Disney Trip will leave their marching uniforms at school. CONCERT WINDS MEMBERS GOING ON THE DISNEY TRIP MUST TAKE THEIR MARCHING UNIFORMS HOME BEFORE WEDNESDAY!

REMINDER: First Disney Trip payment is due December 18th!

MIDTERM EXAM SCHEDULE

BBHHS Midterm Exams will take place December 18th-20th. Instructions for each concert/jazz band are below:

Jazz Ensemble – Online. A Google Form will be sent out via Remind on 12/15 and is due by the end of the 1st period exam time (12/20 – 9:25am-10:55am). Make sure you are signed up for Remind: @bbhhsjazz

Jazz Ensemble – Online. A Google Form will be sent out via Remind on 12/13 and is due by the start of the 1st period exam time (12/20 – 9:25am-10:55am). Make sure you are signed up for Remind: @bbhhsjazz

Wind Ensemble – Report for 6th period exam (12/18 – 11:55am-1:25pm). We will be using this time to rehearse for our Severance Hall performance and finalize Solo & Ensemble registration.

Concert Winds – Students only need to report if they have not submitted their project by the beginning of the 6th period exam on Wednesday, 12/18.

Intermediate Band – Online. A Google Form was sent out via Remind on 12/13 and is due before the start of the 7th period exam time (12/19 – 11:55am-1:25pm). Make sure you are signed up for Remind: @bbhinterme

Wind Ensemble/Concert Winds – Report for 6th period exam (12/18 – 11:55am-1:25pm). We will be using this time to rehearse for our Severance Hall performance and finalize Solo & Ensemble registration.

Symphonic Band – Students must report for the 5th Period Exam time (12/20 – 11:55am-1:25pm) if they are missing any rhythm charts or chair placement submissions. Any missing assignments must be turned in BEFORE the 5th period exam time to be excused from reporting for the exam.
